Application

UCLA Law’s application covering biographical data, short answers, and program interest preferences, submitted via email.

Current Résumé or Curriculum Vitae

A standard résumé – or more detailed CV, if preferred – outlining academic credentials and work experience.  

Personal Statement

A double-spaced, 12-pt font typed statement of no more than three pages describing your goals in pursuing the LL.M. at UCLA Law.

Letters of Recommendation

A minimum of two and maximum of four reference letters from knowledgeable individuals who can attest to your academic qualifications and career interests. At least one academic/professor reference preferred.  

Official Transcripts & English Translations

University-issued official proof of all courses taken and corresponding grades received in your undergraduate and graduate degrees (both completed and in-progress) evidencing that you will hold a first law degree prior to the start of the program in August. Supplemental university or official third-party translations should be provided for any documents not issued in English, as applicable.

Official TOEFL or IELTS Score

If English is not your native language or you do not (or will not) hold a law degree from an institution at which English is the primary language of instruction, either the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is required.   • Email your résumé to llmstu@law.ucla.edu to confirm eligiblity.
  • Once confirmed, follow the application instruactions to submit the remaining materials via email.

Once You’ve Submitted Your Application, What’s Next?

After your application and supporting documents have been transmitted via email, UCLA will assemble your file and confirm that your application is complete. Admission results will be announced on a rolling basis through late July via email from the Senior Director of Graduate Admissions.
